Day 25 - Easter Sunday April 12: Dolen, TX to Kounze, TX

Miles Today: 38 Total Miles: 1,840 Terrain: Flat
Temp: 69 f. Time on the Road: 2hrs 15 min.

We awoke this morning to gentle rain and mist. We were really grateful that we had spent the night in the youth room rather than pitching our little tent. Wet tents are no fun to pack up! Pastor Bertha gave us early warning that tornado watches were issued for our area (while we were enjoying cinnamon rolls and juice in her kitchen). After sharing Easter worship with Living Waters Church, we were on our way by late morning, very much aware of the ominous sky, heavy clouds, and intense humidity. Most of the early ride was in light mist and drizzle. Suddenly the heavens opened and it was like riding through a car wash! Don called it quits at this point, with only 38 miles completed. However, he happened to stop at a municipal building that fortunately had a canopy to offer some shelter and allow him to change out of wet clothes.

Not Quite Noah's Ark, but Close

Not a Babbling Brook, but a Drainage Ditch

We checked into a small nearby hotel, for a hot shower and early dinner fixed by Penny. We are hoping tomorrow the weather will be more favorable.

Yours on the Road,

Don and Penny
